Project in record time: liya goes live with evm

Energieversorgung Mittelrhein (evm), together with greenblocks and gridX, has achieved a major milestone in intelligent energy management. Within just two months from project start, the home energy management system (HEMS) liya was successfully deployed in the first households in Koblenz. This marks the starting point for scaling the technology to even more evm customers.

The solution is based on gridX’s hybrid energy management system XENON, while evm and greenblocks jointly handle the go-to-market setup, technical commissioning, tailored sales training and ongoing operational support. evm, supported by its in-house installer division evm Service GmbH, installs the systems directly on-site and provides personal customer support. Even before the official market launch, customers were introduced to the new solution in dedicated informational events, and the sales team was thoroughly trained. A custom-built savings calculator enables consultants to showcase the substantial financial benefits already during the first conversation.

Use case

HEMS

“With the evm+ Energy Pilot, we are creating an attractive, future-oriented solution for our customers. At the same time, we are laying the foundation for a virtual power plant — delivering benefits for our customers, our grid and the regional energy transition.”
Christoph Hesse
Member of the Board, evm

Maximum customer benefit: Simple. Smart. Saving.

With the evm+ Energy Pilot – the energy pilot for your home, evm customers can now intelligently manage their energy consumption and reduce their energy costs. The system enables seamless integration of solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps and EV chargers, ensuring that self-generated electricity is used efficiently and optimally.

At the same time, evm offers its own dynamic tariff, evm+ Dynamikstrom, giving customers full access to the advantages of dynamic pricing. Energy consumption is automatically shifted to the most affordable source — either self-produced solar power or low-cost grid electricity.

Thanks to grid-friendly control in compliance with §14a EnWG and the newly introduced requirements in §9 EEG, the systems operate not only efficiently but also fully in line with regulatory standards.

Outlook: From pilot project to regional energy transition

With the successful launch of liya and the evm+ Energy Pilot, the foundation for the next development stage has been laid. Over the coming phases, the system will be expanded and opened up for additional applications, from the intelligent control of individual devices to more integrated solutions at a larger scale.

The partnership between evm, greenblocks and gridX strengthens regional energy efficiency and demonstrates how digital technologies can accelerate the energy transition at the local level.
