Munich, November 25, 2025 – Selected inverters from GoodWe, a leading manufacturer (OEM) of inverters and energy storage solutions, are now equipped with the gridX plug-and-play feature. Thus, both newly manufactured and already installed hybrid inverters from the “GoodWe ET G2”, “GoodWe ET PLUS+” and “GoodWe ET 15–30” series can be connected to XENON, gridX’s smart home energy management system (HEMS) in Europe.
‘Ready for gridX’: A win-win situation for OEMs and gridX
The Ready for gridX partner program benefits gridX and OEMs like GoodWe equally. Firstly, energy assets that carry the Ready for gridX label can be integrated into a HEMS quickly and easily thanks to a standardized integration process. Secondly, different energy assets from various manufacturers work smoothly together within XENON, which reduces the time and effort for monitoring and controlling on both sides. Thirdly, it creates the possibility of retrofitting: OEMs can integrate Ready for gridX-certified decentralized energy assets, such as inverters, into an existing HEMS (and gridX can retrofit an already installed energy asset with XENON). This creates cross-selling and upselling potential for both sides.
Furthermore, gridX ensures that Ready for gridX-certified energy assets always comply with rapidly changing European regulatory requirements, such as Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act.
In conclusion, OEMs become future proof and gridX creates a HEMS suitable for mass market use.
Benefits for installers and energy providers
Conventional HEMS commissioning sometimes presents installers with challenges such as complex menu structures or hidden settings, making it tedious and time consuming. With gridX’s plug-and-play feature, all they need to do is follow a guided workflow within an app that is protected by the Ready for gridX security concept (“Secure by Design”).
For energy providers, this means faster and more stable commissioning, which goes hand-in-hand with a reduced amount of support tickets.
Use of plug and play for new installations and retrofitting
Retrofitting offers various advantages. For example, it is more environmentally friendly and cost effective than a full system exchange because retrofitting a HEMS does not require replacing the existing energy asset. In addition, installing a smart HEMS increases the efficiency of the integrated energy assets.
Jie Zhang, Managing Director at GoodWe Europe, says: “The energy market is undergoing a profound transformation – driven by dynamic pricing and increasingly complex grid requirements. GoodWe is embracing these changes by integrating smart energy on all levels, including generation, grid, load and storage. Our goal is to create intelligent systems, building the ecosystem for energy prosumers. That’s why GoodWe partnered with gridX. Their innovative plug-and-play technology boosts cross-manufacturer compatibility and connects and integrates older GoodWe models to deliver the adaptive, user-centric solutions the market demands.”
Robert van der Meulen, Head of Growth Services & Partnerships at gridX, comments: “We are united in our goal of growing fast in Europe to drive the energy transition here. The fact that we can now connect GoodWe assets so easily and quickly through business customers such as E.ON Germany is the result of our close and trusting cooperation and demonstrates what we can achieve together with our Ready for gridX partners.”
