heimWatt x gridX – smartY for integrated home energy

As demand for integrated home energy solutions grew, heimWatt GmbH, a German residential energy company specializing in solar, heat pump and energy solutions, recognized that homeowners were looking for more than standalone photovoltaic systems. Increasingly, customers expected connected solutions that combine PV, battery storage, heat pumps and electric vehicle (EV) chargers while automatically optimizing energy consumption and costs – requiring an intelligent home energy management platform such as the one provided by gridX.

To meet these expectations, heimWatt partnered with gridX to bring intelligent home energy management to its residential energy offering. Together, they launched smartY, heimWatt's branded home energy management solution, enabling homeowners to connect, monitor and optimize their energy assets from one platform. Today, smartY has become an integral part of the heimWatt residential energy system, providing customers with a connected, optimized and future-ready energy solution.

Our goal has always been to make home energy simpler and more efficient for homeowners. Together with gridX, we have built smartY into an integral part of our offering, enabling customers to reduce energy costs while benefiting from an intelligent, connected energy system.

From self-consumption optimization to intelligent cost optimization

The partnership between heimWatt and gridX has evolved continuously over the past three years. What started with self-consumption optimization for photovoltaic systems has grown into a comprehensive home energy solution.

Today, smartY intelligently connects photovoltaic systems, battery storage, heat pumps and EV chargers, enabling optimization based on dynamic electricity tariffs as well as compliance with § 14a and § 9 EEG regulations. The integration of WOLF heat pumps marked another important step in expanding smartY into a holistic home energy management solution. Together, heimWatt and gridX have continuously enhanced the platform, allowing homeowners to reduce their energy bills by over 75%, increase self-consumption and better align their energy consumption with market and grid requirements – all without compromising comfort.

Designed to evolve

As new technologies and regulations continue to reshape residential energy, heimWatt and gridX are continuously expanding smartY with new capabilities. Future developments include further optimization of household energy consumption, the intelligent use of available flexibility from connected assets such as batteries, heat pumps and EV chargers, as well as additional features that help homeowners respond to changing market conditions and regulatory requirements. This ensures that smartY remains a future-ready foundation for efficient and connected homes.
