2. View and manage system details remotely

The lowdown

When you need to dive into the specifics of a single installation, the system details view has your back. This feature lets you drill into the full profile of a system – right down to its current connection status, device type and even the regulatory classification it falls under. For certain manufacturers, XENON also displays manufacturer-specific error codes, giving technicians the insight they need to diagnose issues quickly and accurately. It’s all about getting to the root of the problem without leaving your desk.

What you can do

With system details, you can view the full asset status of a single household or installation, including whether the device is online, what type it is, which manufacturer produced it and its associated regulation type. You can also instantly check the system’s IP address, making it easier to troubleshoot remotely – especially useful for advanced home energy monitoring setups or networked devices like EV chargers

In some cases, XENON even identifies reverse meter flow, allowing installers to fix potential issues before regulatory fines or performance problems occur – without a single on-site visit. The refresh data button ensures you’re always working with the latest system information, without needing to reload the entire browser. It’s all designed to make remote support faster, smarter and more effective.

Why you’ll love it

System details is a powerful tool for reducing technician travel and enabling truly remote operations. With detailed, up-to-date information on each system – right down to manufacturer-specific diagnostics and meter flow direction – installers and utilities can solve problems off-site and avoid costly, time-consuming site visits. As part of XENON’s broader vision for energy monitoring and smart diagnostics, this feature helps partners operate more efficiently, respond faster and scale their energy data management with confidence.

3. Monitor regulatory compliance and upgrade time of use capabilities

The lowdown

Hidden within XENON’s system details view – and currently only available in Germany – is a quietly powerful feature that allows service providers to configure their systems in compliance with various regulations and according to customers’ wishes. This allows users to view and manage how individual systems comply with local energy regulations. In Germany, XENON users can find this with Paragraph 14a EnWG and Paragraph 9 EEG. It also gives the option to enable time of use (ToU) optimization, if supported by the system.

This feature ensures that energy systems aren’t just operational – they’re also compliant and optimized for grid participation.

What you can do

From within the system details panel, users can see which regulatory mode a system is operating under and adjust it if necessary. In Germany, this includes:

  • §14a EnWG (Energy Industry Act): This regulation allows grid operators to reduce the power draw of controllable consumer devices – like energy storage batteries and wallboxes – during periods of high grid load. Complying with §14a enables energy providers to maintain grid stability and may qualify the customer for reduced grid fees.
  • §9 EEG (Solarspitzengesetz): This paragraph governs how renewable systems must behave, including how much power they’re allowed to feed into the grid and under what conditions. Setting the correct regulation mode helps prevent non-compliance penalties.

When the time of use optimization is enabled, systems can shift consumption or feed-in to periods when electricity prices are lower. This not only increases efficiency but can also lead to significant cost savings for both the customer and the provider.

Why you’ll love it

Regulatory compliance isn't just a checkbox – it’s a smart way to support grid stability, reduce energy costs and unlock incentives. With XENON, partners no longer need to manually configure these settings in the field or dig through paperwork to verify compliance. Everything is right there in the dashboard – clearly displayed, remotely adjustable, and tailored for smarter energy data management.

It’s another example of how XENON helps energy professionals move faster, stay compliant, and optimize for the future of energy.

5. An intuitive onboarding wizard for easy installation and commissioning

The lowdown

Setting up a home energy system can be time-consuming and prone to error – especially when multiple devices are involved. That’s where XENON’s installation wizard comes in. This feature guides installers through a fast, smooth and compliant commissioning process for new systems, dramatically simplifying what is often a complex task.

gridX works closely with select inverter manufacturers through our Ready for gridX partnership program to enable a plug-and-play setup that completely removes any required manual configuration to deliver maximum ease and simplicity. For all setups, however, XENON’s onboarding wizard simplifies the commissioning process – from registering your gridBox to scanning your network for connected assets. It’s built for speed, accuracy and minimal frustration.

What you can do

With the wizard, installers can plug in the gridBox and let XENON do the heavy lifting. The system automatically scans the local network for compatible assets like inverters or energy meters, identifies them and begins configuration. The setup typically takes about 10 minutes.

It also ensures the system is configured to meet legal and regulatory requirements right from the start, reducing risk while maximizing system performance. By staying within legal standards (for example, in Germany, aligning with Paragraph 9EEG), the wizard helps optimize feed-in limits and system behavior in a way that’s both compliant and cost-effective. This not only simplifies installation but also enables greater self-sufficiency, helping installers and end customers get the most out of their energy systems from day one.

For partners using our white-label solution, the wizard can be fully integrated or customized. Some customers have even built their own installation flows using our API – thanks to the flexibility of our platform. By the end of the summer, gridX also plans to launch a mobile-first strategy for partners who use our wizard (rather than building one themselves). This will ensure that the commissioning process works seamlessly on tablets, laptops and smartphones in the field.
