Joined forces for the acceleration of the mobility transition

Charge Construct and gridX cooperate on the expansion of charging infrastructure

Munich/Ingolstadt 25th July 2022Two fast-growing companies are joining forces to accelerate the mobility transition: gridX, the smart grid company recently acquired by E.ON, today announced a collaboration with Charge Construct, a holistic charging infrastructure provider based in Ingolstadt, Germany. With the dynamic load management (DLM) solution based on gridX technology, Charge Construct aims to become one of the leading full-service providers for charging infrastructure in Germany and the DACH region.

The EU's plans for achieving the mobility revolution are ambitious: from 2035, for example, new cars will no longer be allowed to emit CO2. Ambitious goals are a necessary tool, as they encourage cooperation between sustainable companies. That is why gridX and Charge Construct have now pooled their resources and jointly developed a DLM based on gridX technology. Charge Construct wants to create a nationwide charging infrastructure network because this is the only way to enable a successful switch to electric mobility.

With dynamic load management, Charge Construct rounds out their charging infrastructure portfolio to become a truly holistic provider. Customers can save both one-off investment costs and operating costs for their charging infrastructure by using XENON, gridX’s digital energy platform. The "Grid Protector" and "Peak Shaver" modules allow more charging points to be used within the existing grid capacity and charging processes to be optimized while taking complex architecture and fluctuating building loads into account.

By applying the 15-minute optimization, smooth and convenient charging behavior at charging stations is achieved, while avoiding expensive peak loads. This guarantees cost-optimized and user-friendly operation at all times. The multi-fuse function also ensures that consumption limits are never breached in any area or building and that all fuses are constantly protected.

The dynamic load management solution enables four times the number of charging points to run on existing grid infrastructure. By using the "Energy Billing" module, Charge Construct can also efficiently operate non-public charging infrastructure with gridX. Additional (backend) systems would not be necessary here, which in turn saves customers money.

Back in April, the two companies equipped the production site of the printing and publishing house Zarbock with 12 charging points and dynamic load management. The aim was to avoid peak loads even with frequent and highly fluctuating building loads and additional charging infrastructure. This requires a system that can react in real time and has offline capabilities – the reason Charge Construct and Zarbock chose gridX.

Ralf Zarbock, Managing Director of Zarbock GmbH & Co. KG, says, "with gridX, we have chosen an efficient and reliable company. gridX was able to implement our requirements flawlessly and has reliably supported us as a climate-neutral print shop in the conversion of our vehicle fleet on the way to a sustainable future."

Andreas Booke, CEO and Co-Founder of gridX, says, "dynamic load management is incredibly important for the mobility transition because expanding the power grid is expensive, with an extension of the grid connection starting from 50,000 euros. With the XENON-based DLM, the costly expansion is avoided and, by reducing peak loads, up to 2,000 euros can be saved per charging point per year. So it's a win-win situation."

Adrian Zierer, CEO and Co-Founder of Charge Construct, adds, "demand for charging infrastructure, both today and in the future, often exceeds the available power at the site. With gridX's dynamic load management, we get the maximum out of the charging infrastructure at every moment and, thanks to dynamic load management, offer the silver bullet of energy and load management."

About Charge Construct

Charge Construct is an e-mobility startup that offers its customers a one-stop shop for all services in the development of charging infrastructure: from site analysis and the corresponding charging concepts, to planning and project management, to construction. This includes civil engineering and installation of the charging infrastructure, which Charge Construct operates, markets and invoices. All services are provided through their own added value.

About Zarbock

Zarbock specializes in magazines, brochures, company reports and chronicles, journals, folders and catalogs, books, flyers, posters and mailings, as well as many other advertising materials in a wide variety of formats and designs. Over 16 years ago, printing and publishing house Zarbock set its focus on sustainability to take responsibility for the environment. Thus, the entire operation has been made climate neutral and has been certified with the Blue Angel, EMAS, ISO 14001. This means that Zarbock not only saves 2,700 tons of CO2 annually, but has also created the basis for all customers to improve their CO2 balance with every print product.
